Cedar-wood is the ideal material as it has a warm, natural reddish brown colour that looks superb in any garden setting. Its pleasant aromatic odor is enjoyed by us all but acts as a repellent to moths, insects and vermin.
Alton selects only the best Western Re Cedar-wood for the tongue and groove cladding used on these models. Their specification is more demanding than that acceptable to some manufacturers.
All Alton summerhouse models are factory treated by total immersion in a preservative prior to delivery. If you wish to preserve the colour you may retreat it every few years. If you do not retreat your summerhouse the cedar-wood will gradually fade to its natural and attractive silvery gray appearance.
All Alton summerhouse doors and windows are also made from Western Red Cedar-wood . They are joinery quality, in Georgian style, with molded mullion and transoms.
All Alton summer-house models, as standard, are supplied with felt roof, but the optional extra cedar-wood slatted roof really adds that extra character and class to your cedar-wood summerhouse or garden room. These roofs are constructed from rough sawn featheredged Western Red Cedar-wood boards and are per-assembled triangular sections fit over the top of the felted roof. As with all other components the roof is supplied preservative treated.
Whilst all Alton products are guaranteed for 10 years, with the right care and attention, you can expect any Alton glasshouse to maintain its good looks for many years after.
